Importing your design

  1. Open CNC Mill from the ADT folder on your desktop
  2. Select the Design option
  3. The workpiece should be set to the correct size of 150 x 75, if not choose Workpiece... from the Setup menu
  4. From the File menu select Import file
  5. In the Import a file dialogue select Files of type: DXF files and navigate to your exported DXF file in your MyWork folder
  6. Make sure you interpret units as mm and Scale to 100%
  7. Uncheck the Load as a Group option
  8. Click on OK

Filling shapes to represent depth of cut

  1. Choose the Hatch  tool from the left hand toolbar
  2. In the settings dialogue set Fill... to Solid fill and choose a colour to represent the depth of cut you require for your first cut out (click on Col...)
  3. IMPORTANT Select a colour only from the 16 Custom colours at the bottom if the Fill Colour dialog
  4. When you select OK the pointer will change to the finger pointer
  5. Point to the edge of a shape you wish to fill with this colour - when prompted for Any islands? select No
  6. Continue filling your cut outs using a different colour for each different depth of cut that you require
  7. WARNING If you use the wrong colour for any shape DO NOT refill with another colour, this will cause the milling software to waste machining time
  8. Instead, you must select the shape that has been incorrectly filled (use the Pick tool to select) and change the fill colour using Attributes > Fill colour from the Edit menu
