To add a more complex cut out


  1. From the Workplane menu select New Sketch
  2. Name the the sketch 'rectangle1'
  3. Check the Add to Workplane option and select workplane 'top face'

To draw a sketch for the new hole

  1. Choose the Create Rectangle tool.
  2. Draw a rectangle on the top face of the base
  3. Choose the Circle tool
  4. Move the pencil cursor to a point near the centre of one edge of the rectangle (black square indicates centre) 
  5. Press and hold and drag out the circle to the desired size
  6. Select the Delete line segment tool 
  7. Move the scissors cursor and delete the line segments to give a continuous outline with no extra lines or gaps (Fig. 13.)
  8. Use the Constrain tool to fix the size and position of the new sketch

 


To cut-out the new hole

  1. Choose the Extrude Profile tool from the Features toolbar
  2. Ensure that the Sketch to use as profile box is set to use rectangle1
  3. In the dialogue box enter a suitable depth, check the Subtract material and Below workplane options
  4. Select OK.
  5. Update the design and manipulate to view

To add new cut-outs
 
  1. Add new cut-outs as shown above
  2. Remember to add a new sketch to the top face workplane for each cut-out
