To add a
more complex cut out

- From the Workplane menu select New Sketch
- Name the the sketch 'rectangle1'
- Check the Add to Workplane option and select workplane
'top face'

To draw a
sketch for the new hole

- Choose the Create Rectangle
tool.
- Draw a rectangle on the top face of the base
- Choose the Circle
tool
- Move the pencil cursor to a point near the centre of one edge of the
rectangle (black square indicates centre)
- Press and hold and drag out the circle to the desired
size
- Select the Delete line segment tool
- Move the scissors cursor and delete the line segments to give a
continuous outline with no extra lines or gaps (Fig. 13.)
- Use the Constrain tool
to fix the size and position of the new sketch

To cut-out the
new hole
|
- Choose the Extrude Profile
tool from the Features
toolbar
- Ensure that the Sketch to use as profile box is set to use
rectangle1
- In the dialogue box enter a suitable depth, check the Subtract
material and Below workplane
options
- Select OK.
- Update the design and manipulate to view
|
To add
new cut-outs
|
- Add new cut-outs as shown above
- Remember to add a new sketch to the top
face workplane for each cut-out
